A tripping device for a fire and safety actuator is a critical emergency trigger designed to instantly disrupt the actuator's normal holding power, forcing the connected safety barrier (like a fire damper, valve, or shutter) into its fail-safe position.
During normal operations, the actuator uses electrical power or pneumatic pressure to hold a safety device open. The tripping device acts as the "kill switch"—when it detects a crisis, it cuts the power or vents the pressure, allowing mechanical spring energy to take over and snap the barrier closed to isolate flames, toxic gas, or smoke.
Belimo BAE165 US Thermoelectric Tripping Device 165°F (with manual reset)
The BAE165 US thermoelectric resettable tripping device operates in conjunction with a UL listed Belimo FSxx Series actuator for use in fire & smoke applications. The BAE drives a motorized fire damper to its safe position when the temperature at the damper (tripping temperature) exceeds 165°F. The device is connected in series with the power supply of the fire & smoke control actuator.
