In hydronic HVAC and mechanical piping, a closed system (or closed-loop system) is a sealed network where the circulating fluid is completely isolated from the outside atmosphere.
Because the water or fluid continuously recirculates without exposing itself to ambient air, virtually no evaporation occurs, and the system retains its original fluid charge for months or years.
Why Closed Systems Matter for Valves (Like the VLC2200HC-C)

- The Danger of Open Systems: Open systems (like open-circuit cooling towers or decorative fountains) continuously draw in fresh air and makeup water.
